Sporting
Murthly and Strathbraan Estates has a long tradition of sporting excellence.
The River Tay at Murthly is to be found at the foot of the Perthshire hills and provides some of the most picturesque and peaceful salmon fishing to be had on the Tay, with catch numbers equalling many of the beats on the lower river, thanks to a combination of deep pools, shaded banks and the expert help of our ghillies. Many people also enjoy fishing for trout in the river here, and car parking is provided for trout fishing as well as salmon fishing.
The shooting and stalking is equally good, with the varied landscape covering everything from heather on Strathbraan, to fine Scots Pine, larch, oak and birch wood in the area around Dunkeld and Birnam, to the landscaped woodland surrounding Murthly Castle.

What they said:
Steve Canny sent us this e-mail in June 2011 after fishing on the Tay with our ghillies, Donald and Tony, for the first time: "Both Tony and Donald are superb ghillies, of the highest order. The knowledge and professionalism of both is impecable, and they helped me enjoy my first visit to the Murthly beats. They must be the finest beats I have fished on, and the way they are run, in particular with regard to catch and release, should be held up as an example to the other Tay beats."
