Perthshire's Exclusive Wedding Venue

Set in extensive landscaped grounds near Dunkeld in Highland Perthshire, Murthly Estate is an award-winning venue comprising Murthly Castle, the Chapel of St. Anthony the Eremite, the Walled Garden and the Douglas fir wood.

Why Murthly stands out from the rest

Rarity Value - We host only a small number of weddings, to make sure we give you our full attention and keep Murthly special.

Always Exclusive - Murthly Castle is a private home, so the venue is exclusively yours, not only on your wedding day, but also during the set-up period. You're our sole focus.

It's Personal - With a single point of contact, you'll always know who you're talking to, and we'll always be up to speed on your plans. We'll also help you prepare for the big day and ensure it runs smoothly.

We've Got Your Setting - Ceremonies can take place in the Chapel, the Castle, the Walled Garden or the Douglas fir wood. We have hosted Christian, humanist, hand-fasting and civil ceremonies.

You're in Control - We'll share our extensive experience of local caterers, marquee providers, florists and other suppliers, but the final choice is always yours. We're here to help, not to tell you what to do.

Award-Winning - In 2023 we were the winners of the Hitched Wedding Awards. In 2022, we received a Gold Award certificate from Best of Bridebook Awards for providing couples with excellent service.

Getting to Know Us

Testimonials

Our previous wedding couples are the best guide to what you can expect at Murthly. Here's what Sarah and Matthew had to say after their wedding (September 2023):

"We got married at Murthly Estate in September, we had the best day of our lives. The venue is absolutely beautiful, all of our guests were blown away!

Picking Murthly allowed us the freedom to design our day exactly the way we wanted. Thomas was really helpful giving us a list of suppliers and he was always contactable! He was there on the day as well if we needed anything.

Having the venue for 4 days was a big bonus giving us plenty time to set up and tidy up the day after!

We would 1000% recommend this to anybody, we couldn’t have asked for a better day!"

Proven Wedding Suppliers

At Murthly, you choose which suppliers you want to provide what you need for your wedding. However, we have plenty of experience of local suppliers and are always happy to give you the benefit of our experience. For example ...

We have some fantastic local award-winning caterers, such as BallintaggartGourlay Events, and Season Catering, while you'll find that Aran Bakery Copper Rose Wedding Cakes and the multiple award-winning Taystful make delicious wedding cakes.

If you're need of a marquee, then we have established relationships with Best Intent, Elegant PitchesGourlay Events and the more traditional Myreton Marquee Hire. You probably want to decorate your wedding marquee with flowers from Coach House Flowers or Something Special Flowers, both award winners.

If that feels like too much to organise, we also know a couple of really excellent wedding organisers who can manage things for you. They'll also make sure you can treasure your wedding day forever with great photographs and a video. We can recommend Laura at Eilidh Robertson, and Nigel at Perthshire Photography.

Finally, no castle wedding is complete without a piper, and the best-dressed is undoubtedly Ian from Sinclair Pipers, who also boasts a great set of tunes and plenty of bonhomie. If you don't fancy arriving with a piper, perhaps you'd prefer to come with McIndoe Horse Drawn Carriages instead.

Our full recommended supplier list is available on booking. Whatever you're looking for, come to us for a recommendation if you need any help.
